McDaniel Account Password Information

McDaniel College uses ReACT for password management online. You must register to be able to use this service. ReACT offers the option to setup an alternate email or cell phone number to which a one-time PIN can be sent for identity verification should you need to reset your password.

In order to use this system, you first have to set up your security questions and, if desired, your alternate contact information.  To do that, go to the web page below, click on "Go to Setup Tool" under "New User Setup", and follow the prompts:

 

Password Expiration Policy

The Department of Information Technology has implemented a password complexity and expiration requirement on all McDaniel user accounts in order to protect your accounts and data, and institutional data and resources. Passwords are set to expire every 180 days, or 6 months. If you changed your password (or set your initial password) before it expired, your password will not expire another 180 days since you last changed it.

You will be prompted to change your password while on a college computer connected to the McDaniel network after logging in. If you are not on campus, navigate to my.mcdaniel.edu and select "Manage Password" underneath where you enter your username and password.

From there, select "Go To Unlock Tool" and follow the instructions.

Passwords will now be required to conform to these complexity rules:

  • Passwords cannot contain the user's account name or parts of the user's full name that exceed two consecutive characters.
  • Passwords must be at least 10 characters in length
  • Passwords must contain characters from at least three of the following four categories:
    1. English uppercase alphabet characters (A–Z)
    2. English lowercase alphabet characters (a–z)
    3. Base 10 digits (0–9)
    4. Non-alphanumeric characters (for example, !$#,%)

If you did not register your account prior to this global reset, you will need to call or visit the I.T. Help Desk in Hoover Library for assistance.

Following your password change, if you use the Colleague Quick link in the MyMcDaniel portal, please note that you will be prompted to enter your new credentials (first time only).
